Is Chivalry Dead? I'll let you decide after reading this...
It snowed yesterday & part of last night, not too bad, but snow none the less. I woke up this morning & actually would have been early to work when I got to my car. I started my car to heat it up & the proceeded to brush the snow off. I used my jacket sleeve, thinking it wouldn't take long. But there was a sheet of ice over EVERYTHING. I searched around my car & couldn't find my ice scraper. Hmmm. I hit the button for my trunk, but it was frozen shut! I turned on my windsheild wipers, they didn't help much. I was going in & out of my car, using what I could to somehow clear off my windsheild & back window. Mind you, I had no gloves on, my hands are red & freezing by this point. There is a man scraping his car next to me (literally next to me). He's just scraping away happily, as I am in & out of my car, cursing, trying to clear of my windows & about to call work & tell them I'll be late because I need time to defrost my car, because I can't see. This goes on for 10-15 minutes. The man next to me says nothing. As I sit, and try to chip away at the ice with my hands & elbows, a young guy (probably pretty close to me in age) comes up from behind me, hands me a little mini ice scraper. I thank him, and he nods, and walks away, asking nothing in return. I begin to scrape, and giant sheets of ice come crashing off my car. The man next to me stops & actually watches me for a minute & then continues on with his scraping. In only a minute, what I had been struggling with for a while, suddenly is no longer a problem. Interesting way to start off my day...

Good for the young guy. The man next to you, however, needs a good Smackdown or two. Has this society lost all sense of common courtesy, much less chivalry?
I tell all my guy friends that we need to keep chivalry alive as much as possible. 'Tis one of the last polyadhesives that holds human contact together.
nah. chivarly is not dead. it is what kept me living.
my boys are the greatest.

:grrr: to the man beside you... to the youngin'
Awww! *grabs you some hand warmers* I'm sorry to hear about that...at least the one guy was nice enough to give you the little scraper though...but I know how you feel with the other person being a jerk...a few years ago when I broke my arm and was trying to get through a doorway, instead of holding the door open for me the guy in front of me slammed it shut, hitting my arm and knocking me backwards...people can be such jerks :eyeroll: But then some can be really kind...my boyfriend is very chivalrous...he'll open the cardoor for me, walk me to my door, open doors for me, take care of me when i'm sick, etc. I could say that's just because we're in a relationship...but I don't think that's the reason...he's always like that...I try to be too, I hold doors open for people, help people out when I see they're having trouble with something...maybe for a lot of people in society chivalry is pretty much dead...but there are still those of us out there who give a hoot
And this is what I think of the jerk who wouldn't help you: :hammer: head go squish! But seriously...I hope you feel better soon! And get some neosporin and warm packs for your arms and hands...that should help those heal up. I wish you the best of luck, take care and blessed be!
Sorry you had to go thru that hon. See in my area its the opposite. The younger guys are the butt heads and the older gentlemen are the nice helpful ones. In fact I would be weary if a younger guy helped me because I would think he was going to try and hurt me. Anyhow to the old guy :hammer: :moon: to the young guy :2beers:
I keep a mini scraper/brush in my desk at work (not trying to sound like a snot... just an idea...)
Any how take care
